One of our favorite kitchen remodels we’ve ever done was featured this week on Houzz. The article featured kitchens with gorgeous green cabinets, and our Snohomish County kitchen remodel made the list at #4.
You’ve probably seen the pictures here in our portfolio, but I thought it deserved a full post since it’s such a fan favorite as well.
Gorgeous green Snohomish County kitchen remodel
The house is located in Mukilteo, WA overlooking the Puget Sound. It’s a beautiful and classic home with art infusing character into each and every room. But, the original kitchen was a different story.
While the basic layout of the kitchen would stay the same, you couldn’t recognize it as the same room when we were done with it. The homeowner was ready to go bold, and we were happy to bring her vision to life.
Here’s the before shot:
The kitchen remodel started with drab and poorly made cabinets that just didn’t fit the look and feel of the house. Our first line of business was to create custom cabinets for the space. By creating our own cabinets, we were able to accommodate all of the homeowners’ wishes while maximizing their current kitchen layout.
Artful design with lights
Instead of creating extra storage in the kitchen, the homeowner wanted to infuse their love of art into the design as well. By adding glass doors to the upper cabinets and wiring in-cabinet lights, it gave the homeowner an amazing showcase for favorite art pieces.
Under cabinet lights were also added to show off art pieces at counter level as well as the gorgeously retro apron-front sink. The lights add a warmth to the kitchen as well as illuminating every corner of the design. Beautiful glass pendant lights were added over the peninsula where much of the cooking and entertaining will take place.
The end result was a gorgeous green vintage-inspired custom kitchen. Not only is it infused with character, it also makes the homeowner’s beloved art a major focal point instead of fading into the background.
Thinking of going green in the kitchen?
A green kitchen is surprisingly bold, all while remaining rather timeless and classic all at the same time. Greens have a great vintage vibe, while at the same time feeling very on-trend.
Depending on the shade of green you pick, a green kitchen can range from calming to eclectic, and everything in between. Whether you want to go truly retro with avocado green, or you prefer a trendier greyish green, green is going to make a statement.
For this particular Snohomish County kitchen remodel, the homeowner chose a deep Eucalyptus Green on the cabinets. The color has both blue and greyish undertones and a nice rich look that makes their art truly pop. To keep the space from becoming too dark, the light colored hexagonal backsplash tile and quartz countertops add a great balance of color and textures.
