One of our recent home remodels was a huge project on a lakeside property here in Lake Stevens, and the heart of the remodel was the kitchen. Corvus took it from a dark and dated to light and bright, with so many personal touches of the new owners. The outdated dark wood cabinets throughout were replaced with white custom cabinets on the walls and a beautiful grain medium wood island that is just the perfect amount of contrast and style.

Additionally, the layout of the kitchen was modified in multiple ways. The first was to add better flow as well as multiple entertaining spaces. The original odd-shaped island was replaced with a truly massive island that added not only prep space but also entertaining area with more island seating. Six eat-in island seats give guests a place at the heart of the kitchen, and makes for easy conversations while prepping food and drink.
The bonus island sink was included again, as well as dual dishwashers – which I believe all of us have wished for at some point or another.
A truly stunning light white and grey granite countertop and backsplash with natural veining throughout the kitchen was brought in, which I feel really tied together the whole room. The natural grain of the granite is truly a show stopper, and one of the main topics of conversation as the house progressed. Paired with an apron front sink, the combination is truly gorgeous.
Lighting was updated to include multiple pendant lights instead of the dark metal abstract orb that used to adorn the island. Pendant lights were brought down over the eat in kitchen table to replace the old can lights, updating the whole room and giving it a more inviting feel.
The desk area was removed and replaced with gorgeous floor-to-ceiling cabinetry along the side of the kitchen. Now, the owners have a beautiful place to display finds from their travels and bartend all their parties.
Out in the hallway off the kitchen, the small wine cellar was removed to make more space for the kitchen layout. Don’t worry, we gave them a much better place to store their wine later in the remodel.
The final result is a gourmet kitchen that is all ready for entertaining. It seats 14, can feed a huge group, and is just waiting for friends and family to sit down and stay a while. And, who wouldn’t want to pull up a chair and hear all about the owner’s travels while enjoying a breathtaking Lake Stevens view, complete with mountain view and beach front?
