Spring is in the air! Flowers are blooming, the grass is growing and the sun is making itself known a little more everyday. You may be focusing your attention on your yard and all the weeding that needs to get done but don’t forget about your home. Here are a few tips to keep your home in tiptop shape heading into summer.
Check your siding for cracks and separation. Use clear culk to seal these up. This will keep the water from penetrating your home.
Clean out your gutters and make sure your downspouts are clear. Having a gutter system that is working properly will save you money in the long run. When your gutters are backed up water can seep into the boards under your roofing material which can lead to a costly roof replacement.
Service and change the filters in your furnace. It has been hard at work during the winter months and now it is time to clean and be sure it is working properly.
Clean you windows – for energy efficiency it is recommended you give your windows a good clean to help heat and light your home naturally as well as using energy saving light bulbs.
Check your smoke detectors – while you’re at it, change the batteries – according to the Fire and Rescue Service, an average of 270 people without smoke alarms die in house fires each year.
If your spring improvements include more than a DIY (do it yourself) weekend such as a kitchen remodel, bathroom remodel, new deck, siding replacement or an addition please contact Denis at Corvus Construction for a free estimate and consultation.
